Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry kids who would grow in the same household, figured out very young how to overcome of difficulties with her incredibly vibrant imagination. Her songs were written before she could write or read. The first guitar she received was gifted to her at the age of eighteen. She began singing in the Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. Her first album was recorded within the same calendar year on Gold Band Records, a small independent label. In high school she was able to establish herself within the school community but her goals were bigger. The day she was able to graduate from high school, it was 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his TV show syndicated by a network at about the same at the same time. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. In 1974, she quit Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her singles like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. Parton, after the split of their collaboration with Wagoner she wrote the song I Will Always Love You and saw it climb to No. Its first appearance at the top spot was in 1974.
